Becoming an EMT


The Carle Regional EMS System is currently sponsoring Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Courses for anyone interested in making a change to this exciting career.  An EMT provides immediate and efficient pre-hospital emergency care, under the command of a physician, to acutely ill or injured patients. 


As an EMT, you may be called upon to:

  • Manage an accident scene.

  • Gather patient information.

  • Provide emergency medical care.

  • Monitor and treat patients while in transport.

  • Provide emotional support to patients and families.

  • Communicate with appropriate medical personnel regarding patient conditions, history, treatment, response to treatment and other relevant information.

  • Drive company vehicles under emergency and non-emergency conditions.

Completing an EMT training course will expand your opportunities in numerous health care careers, including:

  • EMT (Basic)

  • EMT (Intermediate)
  • EMT (Paramedic)  
  • Instructor
  • Dispatcher
  • Emergency department technician
  • Phlebotomist
